WEEK 14 – TIMBER FRAME WALL INSULATION “COMBI” SOLUTION
This Month’s Solutions will focus on Timber Frame Wall Insulation to achieve a u-value of 0.18
Our second Timber frame wall insulation solution in the series is a “combi” solution (using multi-foil insulation in combination with traditional insulation) to achieve a U-value of 0.18. This solution starts off with your standard timber frame wall build up from the outside using either cladding or brick followed by a cavity, breather membrane, OSB and last but not least your timber frame itself. From this point you then add a layer of SF40 across the face of the studs (this can be recessed if you have 100+mm studs to avoid further battening) followed by a counter batten then a 20mm insulated plasterboard.
