UK Building Regulations

The UK government has been progressively tightening energy efficiency standards to reduce carbon emissions and energy consumption. With the latest update made in 2022, the current requirements demand efficient insulation standards for various elements of a building to ensure buildings are designed and constructed to the highest standards possible

Part L: Section 6 Regulations

At the core of the current building regulations are the Approved Part L requirements, focusing on the “Conservation of Fuel & Power.” This introduces the Fabric Energy Efficiency Standard, which sets a recommended upper limit to reduce energy consumption and enhances comfort by integrating high-quality insulation, airtight construction, and efficient windows and doors.

This standard also assesses the energy efficiency of new buildings, considering factors such as fabric U-values, thermal bridging, external heat gain, and more.

Part L: Building Regulations U-Value Requirements

U-values measure the rate of heat transfer through a building element (roof, wall, floor). Lower values indicate better insulation.

Achieve Building Regulations With Multifoil Insulation

text-image

Multifoils are fully compliant with Building Regulations and provide a great solution for improving overall thermal performance to help meet or exceed these higher U-values targets. Meeting these standards in retrofit projects can be challenging, especially when extensive modifications are not feasible. Multifoil insulation presents a potential solution:

When installed to specification, Multifoil insulation will satisfy all requirements, as well as providing additional benefits such as eliminating the need for extra vapour control or breather membrane products, bulky insulation, and unnecessary supporting structures.

SuperFOIL offers several retrofit solutions that achieve building regulations without the use of traditional insulation materials.

Advanced multifoil products like  SuperFOIL SF40 which are only 65mm thick, are some of the highest performing multifoil products available today. With this versatility and efficiency, multifoil insulation is a perfect choice for meeting building regulations without compromising on performance or space requirements.
