SUSPENDED TIMBER FLOOR
How To Install
Suspended Timber Floor
Fitting floor directly onto the joists -
Start at the edge of the wall, leaving an overlap of the product folded up the wall. Roll the SuperFOIL out over the joists.
To create an air cavity, SuperFOIL should be secured to the side of the joist, approx. 50mm from the top of the joist. Secure using the correct size staples (see chart) and batten if appropriate. Continue rolling the SuperFOIL out, when at the next joist, fix into place using the above method. Once fixed into place, roll the SuperFOIL up and over the joist, and then continue in this manner, creating air cavities between joists across the entire floor.
Lengths should be butt jointed on top of the joist and stapled securely into place. If using more than one length
Seal all joints using SuperFOIL 100mm tape. At the perimeter, trim SuperFOIL around the joists and seal to either the wall plate or the Cavity wall insulation if present.
Finish the insulation by taping any tears and/or cuts.
Continue to install your chosen flooring to manufacturers recommendation.
If you are battening out before fitting finished floor –
Start at the edge of the wall, leaving an overlap of the product folded up the wall. Roll the SuperFOIL out over the joists. Whilst rolling out the product, ensure that the product is being held taut whilst stapling into place at 50mm-100mm intervals.
Lengths should be butt jointed on top of the joist and stapled securely into place.
Ensure all joints, tears and holes are sealed with SuperFOIL 100mm tape to ensure an airtight finish.
To finish the installation, batten the product using the correct size battens ( see chart), before placing your internal flooring finish.

Once the chosen flooring has been laid, cut the overlap of SuperFOIL up the wall back to floor level using a sharp utility knife or rotary cutter.
Pipes,Vents & Holes
At penetrations such as vent ducting, pipework etc, SuperFOIL should be trimmed to ensure there are no gaps around the penetration.
Using 100mm Superior Foil Tape ensure the SuperFOIL is well sealed around the penetration to create an airtight barrier. This can be achieved by using small sections of tape and working around the penetration.
