SUSPENDED TIMBER FLOOR

When insulating your suspended timber floors, SuperFOIL has the perfect solution to minimise draughts, moisture absorption, and ensure it’s suitable for the weight capacity of the floors.

Application

SuperFOIL’s thin multifoil range is ideal for floors with limited depth, and it doesn’t add weight to your floors. With a built-in vapour resistance of 1200MNs/g, you can choose from a range of multifoil solutions that best suit your build-up without compromising performance, functionality, space, and design.

SuperFOIL’s flexibility extends to its application; you can use it on its own, in single/duet configurations, or in combination with traditional insulation types like mineral wool or PIR boards.

Direct Application

Begin by positioning SuperFOIL at the edge of the wall, leaving an overlap folded up the wall, and roll SuperFOIL out over the joists. For an air cavity, secure SuperFOIL to the side of the joist, about 50mm from the top, using the correct staples and batten if needed. Continue rolling and securing at each joist, creating air cavities across the entire floor.

Butt joint lengths on top of the joist, stapling securely, and use SuperFOIL 100mm tape to seal all joints. Trim SuperFOIL around the joists at the perimeter and seal to the wall plate or Cavity wall insulation if present. Finish by taping any tears or cuts. Proceed to install your chosen flooring following the manufacturer’s recommendations.

Battened Application

Begin at the edge of the wall, leaving an overlap of the product folded up the wall, and roll SuperFOIL out over the joists. While rolling out the product, ensure it is held taut and staple it into place at 50mm-100mm intervals.

Butt joint lengths on top of the joist and staple them securely into place. Seal all joints, tears, and holes with SuperFOIL 100mm tape to ensure an airtight finish.

To complete the installation, use the correct size battens to batten the product before placing your internal flooring finish.
