Here at SuperFOIL, we’re passionate about sustainability and the environment – it is at the very core of our company values. We want to do everything we can to help contribute to the longevity and preservation of our natural environment. 

With this in mind, we’ve recently established a partnership with Ecologi – an organisation dedicated to tackling the climate crisis. 

Within just seven months, we’re proud to announce that we have already planted over 2000 trees through the scheme – but we’re not stopping there! Reducing our carbon footprint is very important to us and we will continue to help Ecologi in the fight against climate change. 

We have also already offset over 172 tonnes of carbon reduction through our scheme and funded 14 projects so far. Some of these include:

• First ever wind power project in Honduras
• Wind power project in Mexico
• Preventing deforestation in the Democratic Republic of Congo
• Using waste biomass to produce electricity in Chile
• Generating renewable solar energy in Egypt
• Generating electricity from landfill gas in Brazil

Aiming for net carbon positivity

As the UK’s leading manufacturer of foil insulation products, we’re all about making properties energy efficient – a well insulated home will require less energy to keep warm, and it will therefore have a smaller carbon footprint.

But as well as helping our customers cut emissions, we also want our own actions to be more green. That’s why we’re aiming to be carbon negative by 2030.

Although we’ve done a lot to cut waste and emissions ourselves through using more local suppliers, using more recycled material in our products and using electric vehicles, we haven’t yet completely eliminated the carbon emissions at our HQ or throughout our supply chain.

This is why we’re investing in carbon offsetting measures through Ecologi – we’re supporting projects that will cut carbon emissions around the world and planting trees to remove more carbon from the atmosphere whilst improving our own processes

Combined with our own green initiatives, our goal is for our company to offset more carbon dioxide than we produce and we’re confident that we’ll achieve that in the next seven years.

We don’t just want to be net zero – we’re aiming for carbon positivity!

How does Ecologi work? 

SuperFOIL has committed to a monthly contribution on behalf of each employee to allow Ecologi to compensate for our carbon footprint, as well as funding vital climate projects. The money donated is used to support various initiatives that are able to evidence that they are either reducing or completely avoiding greenhouse gas emissions. Our funds are also used by Ecologi to contribute towards reforestation, as it is a well-known fact that planting trees is a crucial tool in tackling climate change and preventing ecological collapse. 

What is a climate-positive workforce?

In order to become a climate-positive workforce, Ecologi assesses the funds required to offset the carbon emissions of each one of our employees. The funds that we donate are then based on these calculations, to ensure that we’re offsetting enough to cover our CO₂ emissions. 

Being climate-positive essentially means that we are taking steps to reduce our businesses’ footprint by offsetting each of our employees’ personal contributions to carbon emissions. This includes their home living, personal travel, holidays, food and hobbies (basically everything they do!) – as well as whilst being at work. 

Every month, SuperFOIL plants groves of trees in our company forest, as well as financing the carbon avoidance projects in partnership with Ecologi. We also share their expert advice with our colleagues to help them further reduce their carbon footprints, and help us reduce ours..
