SuperFOIL Internal wall install

SOLID WALL – INTERNAL

If you use SuperFOIL, you can efficiently insulate the internal walls without adding extra depth to the studs. SuperFOIL with a built-in vapour resistance of 1200MNs/g offers high vapour protection, better space optimisation, and the ability to install up to twice as fast compared to traditional insulation types.

Application

To attach a timber frame to the existing solid wall, install vertical battens of the correct size at a maximum of 600mm centres. Place battens at the top and bottom of the wall and around doors or windows. SuperFOIL can be applied directly to these battens either horizontally or vertically. When applying horizontally, start at the bottom and work upwards, ensuring the product is taut, and staple at 50mm-100mm intervals. For vertical installations, begin at the top and roll the insulation downwards, maintaining tension. Cut SuperFOIL to the required length, allowing a minimum 50mm overlap between joints.

At the floor and ceiling, trim SuperFOIL with a small overlap, sealing joints using SuperFOIL superior foil tape for an airtight finish. Seal all joints, tears, or cuts fully with SuperFOIL 100m foil tape. To complete the installation, add the appropriate size counter battens on top of SuperFOIL to create an air gap and fix the internal finish onto the battens following the manufacturer’s recommendations. All SuperFOIL products needs be stored indoors until used and should be covered within 48 hours after fitting.

SuperFOIL’s flexibility extends to its application; you can use it on its own, in single/duet configurations, or in combination with traditional insulation types like mineral wool or PIR boards.
