Warming Things Up at Primrose Hill School

The Problem

Because of the school’s location, on top of a hill, it was constantly exposed to the wind, making it extremely cold inside the building, especially during winter. Even worse, the school had ZERO roof insulation, meaning they had no protection from one of the absolute worst forms of heat loss.

However, due to the nature of the buildings’ roof, the only way to insulate the unprotected roof without damaging their internal ceilings was by insulating OVER their rafters; which is incredibly tricky for most insulation types.

Worse still, with approximately 800 SQM of roof in need of insulation, they were going to need a solution that would provide effective protection across a huge area.

The Solution

In collaboration with Roofbase Gloucester, a contractor by the name of P S Mitchell Roofing installed a whopping 88 rolls of SuperFOIL SF19BB over the rafters of the school, providing some much needed insulation without causing any issues for their internal ceilings.

There was obviously a massive amount of roof to cover in this project, which is what made the 3-in-1 nature of SuperFOIL so ideal, since there was no need to add additional products (such as a breather membrane) to provide a full build-up. This was essential because it made it possible to swiftly and effectively insulate the school’s roof in time for classes to start up again!

The end result was a massive increase in the overall insulation of the building, not to mention a healthy increase in its waterproofing and weather protection as well, thanks to the Breathable membrane built into all SuperFOIL breathable products!

All together, this solution has helped to make Primrose Hill School a much warmer place for students and teachers alike.
