Project Overview
Catherine contacted SuperFOIL due to the fact she and her family had just bought what they thought was their dream home, to later find the insulation lacking. For most people, this wouldn’t be too much of a deal-breaker, but unfortunately, Catherine’s husband had suffered a nasty work accident in 2007 leaving him with multiple medical needs, some of which are exaggerated by the cold weather.
The Problem
Upon moving into their home, they found that the bungalow suffered from severe cold bridging issues in 3 rooms, leaving the rooms feeling unbearably cold during the winter which affected Catherine and her family badly.
Catherine had started to research different types of insulation she could use under the carpet to help fix the issue, however these options were coming back too expensive for the family to afford.
Trying to do the best for her husband, Catherine reached out to SuperFOIL to see if we could help.
LET’S TALK ABOUT YOUR PROJECTThe Solution
Working with Catherine and her fitter, we discussed using SFUF to fit underneath the carpets and lapped behind her skirting boards to try and minimise the cold bridging issues and to help link the existing wall insulation with the floor insulation.
SFUF was the perfect solution for the application as it’s a mere 6mm thick but provides excellent thermal values. Due to the fact it’s designed to be used on solid floors, there is no need to provide air gaps, so can be used directly under the carpet and underlay without issue.
