SuperFOIL Timber Frame Wall Install


Inadequate vapour protection can result in rot and structural damage to your timber frames. SuperFOIL’s multifoil solutions, with a built-in vapour resistance of 1200MNs/g, offer optimal vapour protection, thermal performance, space optimisation, and the ability to install up to twice as fast compared to traditional insulation types.


SuperFOIL can be applied directly to the studs, either horizontally or vertically. When applying horizontally, start at the bottom of the wall and work upwards, ensuring a 50mm overlap with each layer. For vertical installations, start at the top of the wall and roll the insulation downwards. When fitting the insulation, ensure to keep the product taut while stapling it into place. Staples should be placed at regular intervals of 50mm-100mm.

Simply cut the SuperFOIL to the required length and repeat the process with the next layer, ensuring a minimum of a 50mm overlap between layers. At the floor and ceiling, trim SuperFOIL, allowing for a small overlap, seal the joins using SuperFOIL Superior Foil Tape, and then fix with the correct size batten.

Ensure all joints, tears, or cuts are fully sealed using SuperFOIL 100m foil tape to achieve an airtight finish. To finish the installation, install the correct size counter battens on top of the SuperFOIL to create an air gap. The internal finish is then fixed onto the battens following the manufacturer’s recommendations. All SuperFOIL products needs be stored indoors until used and should be covered within 48 hours after fitting.

SuperFOIL’s flexibility extends to its application; you can use it on its own, in single/duet configurations, or in combination with traditional insulation types like mineral wool or PIR boards.
