Our New Room-in-Roof Agrément & Why It Matters

If you’re familiar with SuperFOIL, then you’ll be no stranger to our belief that proper certification and high-quality training are key to excellence in insulation, especially when it comes to professional installations.
However, a lot has happened since we’ve last published a post on the topic, and given that we’ve just secured another Agrément certification for a SuperFOIL system, we thought now would be the perfect time to take another look at British Insulation Certification and why it is so important.
So let’s dive in…
Our New Room-in-Roof Agrément
We’re proud to say that we’ve officially secured a KIWA BDA Agrément certification for our Room-in-Roof insulation system, which you can find on the SuperFOIL Knowledge Hub.
The certification itself, of course, can also be found on KIWA’s official Agrément search portal, which you can see for yourself right here.
This marks the second insulation system that we’ve secured Agrément accreditation for with KIWA BDA, allowing these systems to be used with confidence by Insulation professionals looking to complete funded projects; and we’re already working to ensure that it won’t be the last.
Of course, this brings us to matter that we’re very passionate about.
Why Certifications Like These Matter
Certified systems like these are so essential because they provide a guarantee, to installers and homeowners alike, that the solution they’re working with will deliver the performance that they need.
It’s about more than just ticking the right boxes, but about providing confidence to our customers. Proving that our systems work, rather than just asking you to take that performance on faith.
And speaking of confidence, it’s probably worth clarifying an important point here.
Our certifications are issued by KIWA BDA, rather than the British Board of Agrément (BBA). While the BBA’s UKAS accreditation is currently suspended, our partnership with KIWA BDA guarantees that our credentials remain fully accredited and compliant.
In the interest of full disclosure, we had previously worked with the British Board of Agrément for certification of our products. However, we made the decision to move away from BBA accreditation for several reasons, many of which we explored in our post on the topic early last year, which you can read here: Our Certifications Have Changed & Why That’s a Good Thing.
We felt it important to clarify the distinction between BBA Accreditation and KIWA BDA Accreditation to be certain that our customers know our accreditation remains active, valid, and fully compliant.
However, this also brings us to another important point that we’d like to address…
Certified Solutions Aren’t Enough
Now, that may seem like an extreme position for us to be taking, but we assure you that it is most certainly one we believe in. Why? Because, as important as an accredited system is, it is only a guarantee that the system will deliver those results when installed correctly.
And that brings us to the reason why we say that certified systems, alone, are not enough. Because any insulation system is only as effective as its installation — which means that certified systems can only ever be half of the solution to the UK’s insulation performance gaps.
The other half must be expertly trained installers, who understand the system they’re working with both inside and out.
This is something that we feel strongly about. So strongly, in fact, that we’ve spent the last two years working to ensure that we’re building a path toward the future of high-quality insulation.

All of which is why we’re going to continue prioritising both the programme, and adding to our collection of system Agréments as we move forward.
