The Great British Insulation Scheme is a new government energy efficiency scheme, designed to ensure that every home in Great Britain is able to gain the benefits of high quality insulation. The scheme is focused toward tackling the issues plaguing the least energy-efficient homes in the UK in order to ease the burden of high energy bills.
The scheme is primarily intended to support low-income and vulnerable households. However, it is also available to those living in homes with an Energy Performance Certificate rating of D-G, and within Council Tax bands A-D in England and A-E in Scotland and Wales.
The Energy Company Obligation (ECO) is a government energy efficiency scheme intended to tackle the dual issues of fuel poverty and carbon emissions in the UK.
The ECO scheme works by placing a Home Heating Cost Reduction Obligation (HHCRO) on medium and large energy suppliers. This means that these energy suppliers must promote and support measures that improve the ability of low-income and vulnerable households to properly heat their homes.
